(WWJ/AP) The University of Michigan Women’s Basketball team experienced a big scare on their way back to Ann Arbor.

A team spokesperson said their flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Evansville, Indiana. A storm was brewing, causing the plane to lose pressure, she said.

The Wolverines were returning to Ann Arbor from San Antonio after they lost to Baylor 78-75 in overtime in an NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 matchup Saturday.

Flight Aware Data states the plane had reached an altitude of 37,000 ft. at 9:39 p.m. CDT. By about two minutes later, it had dropped more than 9,000 ft. By the time it was diverted to Evansville around 9:45 p.m., it was flying at 15,700 ft.

The plane, a Boeing 737-400, landed at 10:07 p.m. CDT.

Oxygen masks had to be deployed, Coach Toyelle Wilson said on Twitter.

“Just went through the worst flying experience. The oxygen masks dropped from the compartments. Told because we dropped at a certain feet & had to use them,” Wilson tweeted.

Wilson posted a celebratory picture after their successful emergency landing: the women in their team jackets, smiling through their masks and giving a thumbs up. Their oxygen masks hung in the background.

“Just want everyone to know, we are on the ground SAFE,” she tweeted.

The team arrived back in Ann Arbor early Sunday morning, shaken but uninjured.
