ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - An urgent search is underway for a man accused of sexually assaulting a student and exposing himself to two other women on the campus of the University of Michigan on Tuesday.
The University of Michigan Police Department confirmed they are investigating two indecent exposure incidents and a sexual assault that were reported on North Campus in the afternoon and evening hours of May 30th.
According to police, the first incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. as a female student was walking on the sidewalk near parking lot NW10. An unknown male came up to her while stimulating himself, officers stated, with his genitals exposed.
He then left he area in a black or dark blue-colored sedan.
A short while later, another report made by a female student detailed a similar incident. The woman told university police that she was walking in the same area when she noticed a man looking at her from a vehicle.
When she got closer, the man got out of the car and had his pants around his knees. He walked toward her with his genitals exposed, police said, as he stimulated himself. The student continued to walk by and she noticed he left the area in a light yellow or silver sedan.
Several hours later, a third report was made by yet another female student who said she was groped around 3:30 p.m.
"A suspect approached a female student from behind while she was walking on the sidewalk near parking lot NW10," police said. "He groped her through her clothing. She struck him with her umbrella across his face."
At this time, police believed all three reports involved the same suspect. The victims of each incident described the suspect as follows:
(1) White male in his 20s, medium build, wearing a sky-blue t-shirt with no graphics
(2) White male, approximately 6 feet tall, full beard, long wavy brown hair
(3) White male, mid 20’s-30, 5’8-5’9, skinny to medium build, short curly red hair, blue eyes, goatee/mustache, bright t-shirt or polo shirt, no hat or glasses
Anyone with any information about these incidents has been asked to contact UMPD at 734-763-1131 or Detective John Buehler at jbuehler@umich.edu.
