(WWJ) – Cleanup efforts are underway after a fiery crash involving two trucks in Southwest Michigan left part of US-31 closed for several hours near the state line.
The crash happened just after 1 p.m. Tuesday in Berrien County's Bertrand Township when a semi-truck hit a box truck, according to Michigan State Police.
Photos from the scene show the semi engulfed in flames and debris all over the highway.
MSP officials said the box truck was contracted by the Michigan Department of Transportation, but was not an MDOT truck.
No serious injuries were reported in the crash.
Authorities are still investigating to determine exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the crash and what sparked the large fire.
As crews were cleaning up, traffic was being rerouted through a nearby rest area and officials were urging drivers to avoid the area and "have patience."
