DEARBORN (WWJ) - A hefty reward is being offered for information about an armed robbery of a U.S. postal worker earlier in the week, officials with the post office announced on Wednesday.

A reward of up to $50,000 will be given for tips that lead to the conviction of the suspect after a USPS mail carrier was robbed at gunpoint around 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 7, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service said.

According to authorities, the mail carrier was near the intersection of Pardee Avenue and Penn Street when the incident occurred. After the robbery, the suspect fled the scene in a gray Dodge Charger last seen heading east on Penn Street.

Officials describe the suspect a male standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing roughly 180 pounds. He appeared to be in his 30s or early 40s.

He wore a dark-colored coat and a light gray ski mask during the incident. He was armed with a semi-automatic gun, possibly gray with a black grip.

Authorities told the public not to approach the man if they see him, but instead call police immediately. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at (877) 876-2455 and say "Law Enforcement."
