VAN BUREN TOWNHIP (WWJ) - A dangerous suspect wanted for torture and sexual assault was found with seven untreated bullet wounds after an alleged shootout in Inkster, authorities in Wayne County said.

Officials told FOX 2 's Jessica Dupnack that Dekenta Parchman, 30, of Van Buren Township was tracked down by U.S. Marshalls earlier this week after he was charged with violently beating and sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend with a hot hair straightener for several hours.

But when Parchman was found in Taylor, he was riddled with gunshot wounds and authorities are trying to piece together who pulled the trigger.

Investigators said via FOX 2 the trouble all began late July when Parchman showed up to his ex-girlfriend's apartment in Van Buren Township and began beating her. Police allege he punched his ex in the face and smashed ashtrays over her head.

The brutal attack went on, police said, as he sexually assaulted her with a hot hair straightener, punched her repeatedly in the head and beat her with an extension cord.

The victim managed to escape her apartment after three hours and called 911 from a neighbor's home. By the time police arrived, the suspect allegedly stole his ex's car and fled the scene.

"This was a very significant assault. The crime scene photos speak to the significance of this assault," said attorney Sona Movsisyan with the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office via FOX 2.

The victim spent several days in the hospital due to the extent of her injuries. She is said to still be recovering.

Roughly a week after the violent assault, federal agents found Parchman in a car in Taylor suffering from multiple, untreated gunshot wounds that came from a supposed shootout in Inkster.

He was arrested and appeared in court on Tuesday, bringing up his injuries to the judge.

"I got shot 7 times. I got bullet fragments in me. I need surgery. My leg is broken, they shot out my knee," he said.

Authorities said Parchman is a career criminal, having served time previously for unlawful imprisonment, drugs, and home invasion.

A judge set his bond for $250,000 with no 10%.
