Van Dyke closed in Warren Wednesday morning as police investigate deadly crash

WARREN (WWJ) -- Warren Police are asking drivers to stay away from Van Dyke Ave., between 12 and 13 Mile roads as officers investigate a deadly crash.

As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Van Dyke was closed in both directions at the scene of the crash.

Warren Police said officers responded to the area shortly after 6:30 a.m. on April 30 on reports of a crash.

Investigators learned that a man, believed to be in his 50s or 60s, was driving northbound on Van Dyke when he lost control of his car and and crashed head-on into a vehicle that was headed southbound.

The man was killed, police said, and the woman driving the other car was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

No names or further details about the people involved were released.

It remained an active scene through the morning commute as police continued to investigate.
