DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Detroit Police Department is asking for tips to help identify and locate a couple of suspects in an arson on the city's west side.
The two men were caught on a home surveillance camera at the scene, in the 16800 block of Fielding, in the area of W. McNichols and Evergreen Rd.
Just before 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, police said the two men walked up to a home and threw a "Molotov cocktail" at the front window, setting the house on fire.
A Molotov cocktail, also known as a "bottle bomb," is a weapon typically made of a glass container filled with a flammable substance and equipped with a fuse, which is lit and then thrown by hand.
After throwing the object, police said the suspects fled on foot.
Fortunately, no one was home at this time of the incident. and nobody was hurt.
Police said the fire did some damage to the first floor of the house.
The DPD release video of the incident, hoping that someone in the public may recognize the perpetrators.
