ROYAL OAK TWP. (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police are seeking more information about a late-night hit-and-run crash involving a child, in Royal Oak Township.
According to investigators, a boy — believed to be around 6 to 10 years old — was hit by a car at approximately 11 p.m., on westbound Eight Mile Rd., east of Wyoming Ave.
The driver involved fled the scene, MSP said, heading north on Eight Mile.
The boy was taken to a local hospital where he's being treated for injuries he suffered in the crash. At this time, there's no update on this condition.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Metro North Post and detectives from the Second District Headquarters Special Investigation Section.
At this time, there's no information on the make or model of the car that police are looking for.
MSP asked for tips from the public, saying in a Monday morning post on X: "We are still in the early stages of this investigation.
