COLD CASE: Police seek tips to ID suspect in construction vest who shot and killed man at Detroit gas station

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police have put out a fresh call for tips as they work to identify and locate a murder suspect who's evaded capture more than two years.

Shortly before 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2022, police said the victim was near the gas pumps at a gas station in the 20600 block of W. 7 Mile Rd., when the armed suspect approached.

Police said the suspect fired shots, fatally wounding the victim, before fleeing the scene in a black Dodge Ram pickup truck.

The gunman is described as a male, last seen wearing an orange baseball cap, black ski mask, neon green t-shirt, construction vest and black pants.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or the vehicle — both seen in surveillance photos released by police — or has any information pertaining to this crime is asked to call Detroit’s Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up (800-773-2587).
