Police looking for suspect who allegedly assaulted man at liquor store, went through his pockets, stole money [PHOTOS]

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are asking for tips from the policy to help identify a man wanted in connection with an assault and unarmed robbery on the city's west side.

The incident happened shortly before 8 p.m. on Friday, June 16, at a liquor store in the 18200 block of W. 8 Mile Rd., near the Southfield Freeway.

Police said the victim, a 48-year-old man, and the suspect "exchanged some words" inside the store before the suspect physically assaulted him.

The suspect then went through the victim's pocked and stole some money, according to police, before fleeing the scene in a dark-colored sedan.

The victim refused medical attention, police said.

On Thursday, police released photos of the suspect and his vehicle, in hope that someone with call in a tip.

Anyone recognizes the suspect or the car, or who has any other information about this crime is asked to call the DPD's 8th Precinct at 313-596-5840 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (800-773-2587). The public can also submit anonymous tips online via Detroitrewards.tv.
