DETROIT (WWJ) — After a cold and wet start to the week, a beautiful, warm and sunny weekend is in store for Metro Detroit.

AccuWeather meteorologist Joe Lundberg says it will be "nice and sunny" on Friday afternoon across Metro Detroit, with temperatures climbing into the upper 60s.

Overnight temps, however, will dip into the low-to-mid-40s in Downtown Detroit, but possibly all the way into the low 30s in the further suburbs, Lundberg said.

The weekend looks even better, according to Lundberg, with the high reaching 72 on a mostly sunny Saturday and mostly sunny skies on Sunday with a high of 74.

The AccuWeather forecast says this weekend will bring "great weather for viewing fall foliage" as the trees begin to change color.

Lundberg says it will be "very warm" on Monday with the high temperature expected to be in the upper 70s, perhaps even approaching the Oct. 21 record of 81, set back in 2007.

AccuWeather forecasters call for temps to drop back into the 50s and 60s by the end of next week, with overnight lows approaching 40.
