Four warming centers are currently in operation with support from two nonprofit homeless service providers -- Cass Community Social Services and Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries -- and they're open until March 31.

The centers hope to provide relief to the city's homeless community when other year-around shelters might be filled up.

Temperatures have been frigid across the state and will continue into
Sunday, according to WWJ meteorologist John Feerick. Lows will reach 11 degrees this evening. An alert to limit outdoor activity has been recommended by weather authorities.

Those who are seeking shelter or need placement within a warming center can contact the Coordinated Assessment Model (CAM) to learn more about available options.

CAM can be reached at 313-305-0311.
