DETROIT (WWJ) -- A suspect is in custody after deadly shooting in Detroit, and police chase into the Ann Arbor area.
Detroit Police said they responded at around 3 a.m. Monday to the area of Hasse Street, near 7 Mile Rd. and Ryan Rd., on a report of shots fired.
On the scene, officers found a man in his 20s who'd been shot and killed.
Police said investigators believe the victim and suspect knew each other, and that the shots were fired after they got into some sort of argument.
The alleged shooter — a 38-year-old Warren man — left the scene but was tracked down by Michigan State Police who got a call from Detroit Police for assistance.
The suspect then led MSP troopers on a pursuit through several cities, from Detroit into Washtenaw County.
Police said the suspect exited I-94 at Ann Arbor Saline Rd., and when he tried to make a U-turn, troopers were able to box him in and make an arrest.
The suspect was turned over to Detroit Police. He's now jailed and awaiting an arraignment on the charges.
“As we often see crime does not recognize city and county borders,” said MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw. “This was just another of many examples of teamwork between MSP and local police to keep Michiganders safe.”
Police said two MSP patrol cars were damaged in the chase, but no officers were hurt.
