STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- A Warren man has died after he was hit by a pickup truck while trying to cross Van Dyke Ave. in Sterling Heights Sunday night.

According to Sterling Heights Police, the 60-year old man may have been drunk when he started crossing Van Dyke, at 15 Mile Road, while traffic had a green light.

Investigators said the man was in the crosswalk, but didn't have the right away, when he was hit by a Dodge Ram truck.

He was treated at the scene and then taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries.

The Ram driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with police.

Southbound Van Dyke was closed at the scene after the crash, at around 10:45 p.m., but has since reopened to traffic.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
