WARREN, Mich. (WWJ) -- It was a busy Monday morning for Warren police.
A pair of separate police investigations are underway in Warren after an 8-month-old baby was found dead Monday morning and another body was discovered in a parking lot.
Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer tells WWJ first responders were called to a home in the 7200 block of Toepfer Road -- in the area of 8 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue -- Monday morning after the baby’s body was found.
Police are still investigating, but say it is believed the baby was accidentally smothered while sleeping next to the mother.
The baby, whose gender has not been disclosed, was taken to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead.
In an unrelated case, Warren police say a man’s body was found outside of a Warren Dental office in the area of 11 Mile Road and Van Dyke.
“It appears it was an overdose and the body was dropped off,” Dwyer tells WWJ.
Dwyer says this investigation is in the preliminary stages, and it’s possible it could turn out to be a homicide, but they are not sure.
