WARREN (WWJ) -- The Warren Police Department is on the hunt for a suspect in an armed bank robbery.
According to Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer, the robbery took place at around 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Fifth Third bank on Van Dyke Ave. near 13 Mile Road.
The suspect — described as a Black female wearing all black clothing — walked up to a bank employee and demanded money.
The woman then produced a handgun, Dwyer said, and the teller handed over some cash.
The suspect then fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.
No bank employees were physically hurt.
Dwyer said his officers responded to the scene where they interviewed witnesses, looked over security footage and collected evidence.
He said this remains an active investigation.
"I would like to indicate that it's fortunate that nobody was injured during the incident," Dwyer added. "The Warren Police Department does not tolerate violent crime and will use whatever resources necessary to bring the subject to justice."
Anyone who may have seen the suspect, or who has any information about this crime should call Warren Police Det. Cpl. Lemond at 586-574-4705.
