The fox is losing its hair from a bad case of the burrowing mites.

Without fur, the fox could die of hypothermia as temperatures drop, according to animal control officials. The sick animal could also spread mange to other foxes at a fast rate.

Pet owners are advised to use a preventative medication that includes mite protection.

Anyone who spots the fox should contact Macomb County Animal Control at (586) 469-5115.
