Washtenaw County man dies in snowmobile crash in Upper Peninsula

MACKINAC COUNTY, MICH. (WWJ)— A Saline man died in a snowmobile crash in the Upper Peninsula, according to Michigan State Police (MSP).

MSP said the crash happened on Saturday, January 3, around 1:00 p.m. in Clark Township—near Mackinac Island—on Bay City Lake Road near Trail 47.

According to MSP, the preliminary investigation revealed the man hit a bump while on Trail 47 and was thrown from his snowmobile.

Authorities said first responders attempted life-saving treatment, but he passed away from his injuries.

The victim was identified as a 61-year-old Saline man. His name was not released.

Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be contributing factors.
