Members of the far right Boogaloo Bois descended on Ann Arbor armed with long guns on a peaceful Easter Sunday to protest the arrest of Omar Shafie, and were confronted by angry locals.

Shafie, 32, was arrested after a 36-hour stand-off with a Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office SWAT team, during which he allegedly shot off several rounds.

While a half-dozen armed Boogaloos marched outside Ann Arbor City Hall to defend him, a local man begged them to stop, saying local people had enough drama during the pandemic.

'Get your f***ing guns out of here, man,' he said.

Meanwhile, police stayed out of the fray and the protest eventually petered out.

As for Shafie, since his arrest, his girlfriend has disputed that he was suffering from a mental health crisis, and claims that police infringed on his Second Amendment rights.

'How much money did it take from the city to have fifty cops out there in a 36-hour standoff?' members of the group shouted at City Hall.
