"Put that sh** back!"

Those were the words an alleged porch pirate was greeted with after he casually grabbed a box from what looks like a Detroiter's front porch in a theft attempt.

But the words weren't as attention grabbing as the assault rifle in the homeowner's hands.

When he was confronted, a doorbell camera catches the pirate politely returning the box and getting back into his car to leave. The altercation is over.

What exactly happened? A comedy, that's what. A local family put it together as a social media goof ... and then it went viral on Twitter. See the original below.

An extended version of the video posted on Reddit's Public Freakout sub got a lot of attention -- and then there was Twitter. When the video was shared by a woman who describes herself as an east side Detroiter who's a nurse and future pharmacist on that platform, it garnered nearly 94,000 likes and 1.4 million views.

A viral phenomenon filmed right here in the snowy Motor City was born.

Hundreds of reaction gifs are pouring in.
