BERKLEY (WWJ) – The City of Berkley is working to fix what they call a major water main break in the city.
The water main break was discovered Friday morning (Feb. 13).
Catalpa Avenue was completely closed from Robina to Kipling, west of Coolidge Highway. Wakefield was closed at Catalpa "until further notice."
The Berkley Department of Public Safety said the closures would significantly impact traffic in the area, particularly near Anderson Middle School and Berkley High School. Both schools were open on Friday.
Officials asked drivers to plan alternative routes, allow extra travel time, and use caution when traveling near the affected area.
There was no immediate word as to how long repairs might take. The department said they would provide updates as they become available.
