COMMERCE TWP. (WWJ) — A 21-year-old Waterford Township man is dead after a motorcycle crash in Commerce Township early Saturday morning.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says just after midnight on Sept. 28 Lucas Horsch was driving a 2024 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on Cooley Lake Road near Switzerland Street when the motorcycle crossed the centerline, slid and went off the road.

Horsch was thrown from the bike, which slid into a nearby home’s driveway, the sheriff’s office said.

Horsch, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was rushed to the hospital. He died of his injuries late Saturday night.

An autopsy revealed the 21-year-old was drunk at the time of the crash, as he had a .12% BAC, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities say he did not have a motorcycle endorsement and crash investigators say it appears a lack of experience may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit.
