
FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) -- A Wayne County man is in critical condition after being thrown from his motorcycle in a crash in Monroe County late Sunday afternoon.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says a 29-year-old man from Lincoln Park was headed northbound on North Dixie Highway, just south of Leroux Road, shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday when his bike ran off the east edge of the highway and into a ditch.
Authorities say the man’s blue, 2006 Suzuki motorcycle then struck a culvert and went airborne before landing in a field.
The bike and rider came to rest in a field on the east side of the roadway.
The man, whose identity has not been released, was transported to Beaumont Trenton Hospital and then transferred to Detroit Receiving Hospital, where he was last listed in critical condition.
Police said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and authorities are asking anyone with information regarding the crash to call 734-240-7541.
