WAYNE (WWJ) -- A death investigation is underway in the City of Wayne where a woman's body was found at a park.
At around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, police said a baseball coach was leaving the playing fields at the end of the night when he discovered the woman in the backseat of a Ford Explorer parked at Forest Park, on Forest St. near Venoy.
The coach called 911 and Wayne Officers and EMS responded, confirming that the woman was dead.
Police said the woman has since been identified as 35-year-old Allyssa Caulk.
An investigation found she's the registered owner of the SUV and has been known to be living out of the vehicle and frequenting the park.
Police said there were no apparent signs of trauma or foul play, but it's not yet clear how Caulk died.
The woman's body was turned over to the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office with results of an autopsy still pending.
Police noted that this is an active investigation in the early stages.
