DETROIT (WWJ) - The Wayne State University Police Department is asking for help finding a missing student.
26-year-old Andrew Watkins was last seen on campus at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 26, according to a statement from the WSUPD.
Watkins lives in the Anthony Wayne Drive Apartments, which are located on campus.
Watkins is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue sweater, black pants and white shoes.
WSUPD was contacted by Watkins’ family on Feb. 29. After a preliminary search didn’t result in him being found, the university activated the missing student protocol.
The protocol includes “sending a text and an email to the university community and posting an alert to the university’s homepage with the student’s description and a photo asking anyone with information on Watkins’ whereabouts to contact WSUPD,” according to the statement.
Authorities said the family is in regular contact with the police department.
“The entire university community is hopeful for his safe return,” the statement said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the WSUPD at 313-577-2222.
