
(WWJ) A day in the water turns deadly in West Bloomfield after a man drowns in Pleasant Lake.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team was called to Pleasant Lake around 6 p.m. Sunday to help West Bloomfield firefighters with a reported drowning.
First responders were told that a man, identified later by the Sheriff's Department as Steven Sweeney, 62, was found floating face down in the water.
People at the lake saw that Sweeney was unresponsive and went into the water to rescue him. Sweeney was rushed to Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities say he wasn't wearing a life jacket.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
The incident remains under active investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team.
