
KENT COUNTY (WWJ) -- A hunting accident in West Michigan has resulted in the shooting of a 12-year-old boy.
According to Kent County sheriff’s deputies, a 17-year-old boy was hunting in the woods in Solon Township on Monday, and was up in a tree stand when his younger brother came outside to call him into dinner.

MLive.com reports that the teenager then accidentally shot his brother with a rifle, apparently thinking he was a deer.
Emergency services were immediately contacted, and the boy was rushed to the hospital by ambulance with severe injuries. He is reportedly in serious, but stable condition.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the situation, with help from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
