WESTLAND (WWJ) -- A 20-year-old Westland man has been charged with the premeditated murder of his girlfriend, an 18-year-old Westland woman.
According to authorities, the suspect and the victim lived together in the apartment where the deadly shooting took place, Sunday evening.
The investigation began at around 6 p.m. on Sept. 6, when Westland Police officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Landing Apartments, on Central City Parkway near Warren Road.
Monica Rokita was found unresponsive inside her apartment unit, with multiple gunshot wounds to the face, arm, chest, and stomach, officials said. EMS arrived, and she as pronounced dead at the scene.
Daniel Dean, identified as a suspect in the slaying, was found and arrested without incident by Westland Police.
It's alleged, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, that Dean fired a rifle at Rokita multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Dean has been charged with one count of Premeditated First-Degree Murder and one count of Felony Firearm.
He was scheduled to be arraigned via Zoom in18th District Court, Tuesday afternoon.
There is no information a this time about a possible motive, or about what led up to the shooting.
