(WWJ) This is a first for a White Lake Township police officer who responded to a car-deer crash on Highland Road last night.
The officer found the doe that was hit was pregnant and about to give birth. A post on the police department's Facebook page says officer Wright was able to remove the fawn, warm it up and get it breathing.
He took the fawn to the police station where officer Snow made a bed for it and gave it some milk.
The officers named the fawn Little Baby Meijer, because she was born near the store.
The post ends with police saying "Sometimes in this job you see and do things you have never done before. We can now mark deer birthing and deer neonatal care off the list. Best of luck with your life Baby Meijer!!!!"
Officials from a wildlife rehabilitation center were expected to take Baby Meijer to her new home.
