DETROIT (WWJ) - A 39-year-old man from Metro Detroit has died after crashing his truck into a utility pole on the city’s west side, but Detroit police said foul play could be involved.
According to WDIV, a Detroit police official said the man, a Wixom native, was found deceased in his truck on I-96 and Burt Road Monday evening when his white Dodge Ram slammed head-on into pole.
Authorities said the man sustained a wound to his abdomen, but they are unsure if it was caused by the accident or if it could be a possible gunshot or stab wound at this time.
Both airbags in the truck deployed as a result of the impact, police told WDIV, but they are still trying to determine if there was a passenger.
Homicide detectives were called to process the scene -- the cause of death remains unclear as of Tuesday morning.
