HAZEL PARK (WWJ) — Bond has been set at $1 million for a Rochester woman accused of stalking a man she had seen at the gym, along with his girlfriend, who she hit with a gun.

Jie Yu, 52, was arraigned Tuesday on several felony charges, including aggravated stalking and felonious assault.

The charges stem from an incident last Friday in Hazel Park in which a 35-year-old woman told police another woman hit her with a pistol while she was sitting in her car.

The victim initially identified the suspect as a DoorDash driver who had come up to ask her about an address, according to a report from WDIV in Detroit. The suspect allegedly hit her with the gun and then drove away in a Ford F-150.

Yu was eventually identified as the suspect and police went to her home. She admitted to police she had gone to Hazel Park because she “wanted to scare” the 35-year-old, according to the report.

Authorities said Yu kept changing her story as they interviewed and what she was saying “didn’t make sense,” according to the report.

During a search of her home, police found packaging for a GPS tracking device. Authorities then spoke again with the 35-year-old victim and found a tracking device on her car, as well as her boyfriend.

The victim told investigators she and her boyfriend had no connection to Yu.

After interviewing Yu again, she admitted to police that she had seen the boyfriend at a gym and “developed an infatuation” with him, according to the report. It does not appear the woman had ever spoken to the man.

Authorities say she then stalked the couple prior to the pistol-whipping incident.

It was not immediately clear at which gym Yu had seen the boyfriend or how long she had been stalking prior to the alleged assault.

Yu has been charged with felonious assault, two counts of felony firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, aggravated stalking and a misdemeanor motor vehicle tracking device violation.

Yu remains held on a $1 million bond.
