FARMINGTON (WWJ) -- A woman who was shot before a barricaded gunman situation in Farmington over the weekend has died, according to authorities.
Sunday night, the public was asked to avoid the area as the Farmington Public Safety and SWAT responded to Farmington Road, between 9 Mile and Grand River, after a shooting.
The suspected gunman barricaded himself in a building, police said, and took his own life a short time later. "One victim was shot, and upon entry, SWAT found the suspect with an apparent self-inflicted fatal gunshot wound," according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
First responders immediately tried to help the victim, but she died the injuries she suffered in the shooting, police said.
Farmington police said they believed the incident stemmed from a domestic violence situation. Officials said there is no further danger to the community, as the investigation continues.
The people involved have not been publicly identified and no further details were immediately released.
