SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) -- A 22-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with first degree premeditated murder in the shooting of her own mother in her Southfield home.

Southfield Police say Riley Donaldson of Cincinnati, Ohio, shot and killed her mom, Ada Mae Simmons-Jones, on Oct. 5 at her house on Bainbridge Drive.

"When she was arrested, she refers to herself — when officers asked her for her name — refers to herself as God," Southfield Police Chief Elven Barren told reporters, at a news conference Tuesday.

"Also, when our detectives brought her to the station and begin to interview or attempt to interview her, she immediately asked for a lawyer. So, she's very conscious of the legal system. She's very conscious of calling herself God, because you all know when individuals do that declaration, they're letting us know that they decide who lives and who dies," Barren said.

Police shared surveillance video they said shows Donaldson driving up to her mother's home, going in, and then coming out within three minutes on the night of the murder.

As for a motive, WWJ's Jon Hewett reports: "The only thing police can point to is, a few weeks back, the victim in this case, Simmons-Jones, called authorities after her daughter took her paternal granddaughter, whom Simmons-Jones had custody of, and then did not want to eventually file charges."

Donaldson is being held without bond, with her next court date set for Oct. 22.
