Woman dead after speeding driver in Detroit refuses to pull over, crashes into her car: Police

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A tragic crash on the border of Detroit and Southfield has claimed the life of one woman.

Detroit police say two SUVs crashed around midnight Thursday on Eight Mile near the Southfield Freeway Service Drive.

According to authorities, police said officers tried to stop a Jeep Cherokee that was speeding -- but the driver wouldn't pull over. Officials indicate that the Jeep then ran a red light at the Southfield Service Drive and crashed into a Ford Edge.

Police said that s woman in the Edge died in the crash. Three men in the Cherokee were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay.

The names and ages of those involved have not been revealed.

The investigation is ongoing.
