BEDFORD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) An Erie woman died in a hit-and-run crash involving three vehicles in Bedford Township.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened on Saturday, November 16th, at 11:59 p.m. on Smith, west of Telegraph Road. Investigators said the victim— identified as Erika Todd, 43— was walking east near the shoulder of the roadway in dark clothing. A vehicle of unknown make and model, traveling eastbound, struck her and fled the scene. Todd came to rest across the eastbound and westbound lanes of travel.

A 2007 Honda Accord, traveling west on Smith, struck Todd while she was lying in the road. Theresa Thivierge, 65 of Toledo, drove the Honda. She came to a controlled stop on the west shoulder—while Todd came to rest in the eastbound lane of traffic, the sheriff's office said.

According to the sheriff's office; a 2007 Nissan Sentra traveling east also hit Todd. Lexi Hall, 19, drove the car—with Nathaneal Shooter, 24, as her front seat passenger, both of Erie. Hall and Shooter came to a complete stop on the east shoulder, and Todd to rest in the center of the road.

Todd was pronounced dead at the scene. Hall, Shooter, and Thivierge were not hurt and were released.

It's unknown if alcohol or speed were factors in the initial crash.

The crash happened in a residential area with a speed limit of 45 miles per hour.

The Bedford Township Fire Department, Monroe Community Ambulance, and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Chaplain Program assisted at the scene.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to find the suspect who caused the initial crash. If you have any information on the case, please call (734) 240-7548.
