ROYAL OAK TWP. (WWJ) -- A woman escaped from an Oakland County home, telling police she'd been kidnapped and held prisoner for three days.
Michigan State Police said they got a 911 call around at around 1 a.m. Friday from a home in Royal Oak Township.
The resident said a stranger was sitting on their porch claiming she had been kidnapped.
When MSP troopers arrived on the scene they found a woman who had two black eyes, along with bruising and abrasions over her body.
She told police her boyfriend had held her against her will at his home on Cloverdale Ave., which is just north of 8 Mile Rd.
The woman said the man took her phone, strangled her, hit her with a liquor bottle, and — during one attempt to leave — threw her down the stairs.
The woman told police was able to escape while the man slept. She ran outside and found a house where it appeared someone was awake.
The woman was taken by EMS to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
MSP troopers then went to the home of the 31-year-old suspect, who initially refused to come out. He was later taken into custody without incident.
On Friday, he was being held in the Oakland County Jail awaiting an arraignment on formal charges.
