REDFORD (WWJ) -- Police in Redford Township are investigating a dog attack that led to a fatal shooting.
A female resident, her daughter and an adult male were walking the woman's' dog on Wednesday evening near Redford Union High School when a dog from a nearby residence jumped over a chain link fence and escaped its yard.
Police say the dog attacked and bit both the woman and her dog.
The woman -- who is a valid CPL holder -- then shot the attacking dog and killed it.
The dog was dead at the scene when authorities arrived. Meanwhile, the woman and her dog sustained minor injuries.
Redford Township police are continuing to investigate the situation.
