TROY (WWJ) -- An Ypsilanti woman was arrested outside a 7-Eleven in Troy last weekend after she was found sleeping in a box truck midday.
Troy Police said it responded to the convenience store at Crooke Rd. and Wattles at around 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, to check on the driver of a rented U-Haul. She'd reportedly been slumped over the wheel of the truck in the parking lot for an hour-and-a-half, according to a witness.
Officers arrived to find the driver as described, and woke her up.
While they were speaking with the 33-year-old, the officers said they spotted a glass pipe on the seat between the woman's legs.
Police said the driver admitted to smoking crack cocaine three hours earlier and said she must have fallen asleep.
Officers search the truck and found "additional paraphernalia," as well as a plastic bag containing miscellaneous pills — later identified as Adderall and Xanax, police said.
The driver was booked at the Troy Police lock-up on charges of Possession of Synthetic Narcotics and Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia.
Her name was not released.
