VAN BUREN TWP. (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police are investigating after a body was found in a vehicle on a freeway ramp in Wayne County, early Friday morning.
Investigators said troopers were called to westbound I-94 near Haggerty Road, at around 2:30 a.m., after officers with the Van Buren Township Police Department discovered a woman dead inside a Honda Civic on the ramp.
Troopers were able to identify the driver as a 59-year-old Flint resident, MSP said. Her family has been notified, but officials are not releasing her name at this this time.
It's still unclear how the woman died, MSP said, but at this point there's no indication of any threat to the public.
The Wayne County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy.
"The on scene investigation did not locate any signs of foul play, narcotics use, or any evidence of a crash," said MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw, in a statement. "Once the autopsy is completed, we will be able to determine our next steps in this investigation."
