CANTON (WWJ) -- An illegal foreign national from England is facing charges in Wayne County, after officials say she was busted for stealing packages in Canton.
According to Canton Police, 34-year-old, Emma Barker of England — who does not have legal status in the U.S. — was identified on Feb. 24 as a suspect in a recent rash of parcel thefts at the Ridgeline Apartment Complex, on Honeytree Blvd., near I-275.
That same day, police said the Canton Investigative Bureau executed a search warrant on Barker’s Canton apartment, where evidence of the thefts was found and Barker was arrested.
During the search of her apartment, police said investigators identified several additional victims in the case.
On Wednesday. the Wayne County Prosecutors Office charged Barker with one count of larceny in a building, a four-year felon, as well as receiving and concealing stolen property worth between $1,000 and $20,000, which is a five-year felony.
She was arraigned in 35th District Court where her bond was set at $25,000, with a GPS tether if she's released.
Barker's next court hearing is set for March 7.
