LIVINGSTON COUNTY (WWJ) - An elderly woman was assisted by police in Livingston County after she was able to pass a note to a bank teller on Tuesday where she wrote, "Help me Call 911."
According to Pinckney police, officers responded to an undisclosed bank in the village after receiving a report from employees about a situation involving an older woman in a vehicle with a younger passenger at one their drive-thru lanes on June, 13th.
Workers said they were passed a note from the woman that had asked for help and for employees to call 911.
Police, assisted by the Hamburg Township Police Department as well as deputies from the Livingston Co. Sheriff’s office, found the vehicle when they arrived at the bank.
The two occupants were identified as an older mother and her 35-year-old daughter from Hamburg Township. Both women were questioned by police before the daughter was arrested for armed robbery and other crimes.
"This incident began in Hamburg Township at the victim’s residence," Pinckney police stated in a press release. "Without the help of an astute bank staff, this incident could have ended much worse."
While details remain unclear, Pinckney police Chief Garrison said that "we cannot allow abuse of our senior citizens, especially by family members."
The suspect is now facing a charge of attempted armed robbery from the Livingston County Prosecutor’s Office. She was given a $250,000 cash bond.
