WARREN (WWJ) A woman in the midst of an apparent mental breakdown is in custody for allegedly striking multiple people with her Jeep, with her child in the car; police said.
Warren Police said it happened during the late night of Friday, September 26, on Van Dyke near 12 Mile. According to authorities, she hit several people at multiple locations in the area with her 2019 Jeep Compass before driving into a Walmart parking lot.
Police said she attempted to strike more people inside the Walmart parking lot, but “only caused property damage.”
She bit and kicked an officer as they attempted to arrest her, police said.
Her child was not hurt and was released to family.
Police did not release the conditions, or the number of the people hurt, but they describe the victims’ injuries as “not serious.” Authorities believe the suspect was having a “mental health crisis” at the time.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
