BIG RAPIDS, MICH. (WWJ)- A mother and her three young children were shot and killed in a home in west Michigan, according to police.
The Mecosta County Sheriff's Office said they responded to a call on Friday around 2:30 p.m. to a home south of Big Rapids (about 55 miles north of Grand Rapids) on a report of a man with a gun walking around the property and shots fired.
Upon arrival, deputies found three children and their mother dead with apparent gunshot wounds.
The Sheriff's Office did not release the exact ages of the children, only that they were all under the age of 10.
Deputies also found a man at the scene with a gunshot wound to his head. He was hospitalized in Big Rapids but later transferred to a medical facility in Ann Arbor. Authorities say the suspect is the woman's husband.
The woman's name and age have not been released.
