DETROIT (WWJ) A wrong-way crash on Detroit's east side ends with one person arrested and three people hospitalized.

Michigan State Police (MSP) said the crash happened on southbound I-375 near Jefferson Avenue on Saturday, May 2, around 1:00 a.m.

According to MSP, Detroit Regional Communications Center said they received calls of a driver going northbound in the southbound lanes of I-375. Troopers arrived and found a head-on crash.

Authorities said the at-fault driver struck a passenger vehicle with a driver and two passengers inside. All three of them were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

MSP identified the at-fault driver as a 39-year-old woman from Toledo, Ohio. They said she showed signs of intoxication. Troopers arrested her for impaired driving.

The freeway was closed for investigation.

According to MSP, prosecutors will review the case.

"This is another example of a traffic crash that was totally preventable," First Lieutenant Mike Shaw said. "There is never a reason to drive impaired. Ever."
