(WWJ) A 31-year-old man has been charged in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pregnant woman in Southgate.
Prosecutor Kym Worthy says 31-year-old Raymond Alkewich of Wyandotte was allegedly driving drunk and speeding when he struck the 35-year-old Southgate woman on Fort Street and Superior, last Saturday night.
The victim was treated by EMS at the scene, but she and her unborn child later died at a local hospital.
Alkewich did not stop, fleeing the area, but was later identified and arrested following an investigation by Southgate Police.
He was arraigned n 28th District Court Tuesday on a felony charge of failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death.
Bond was set at $2 million and Alkewich's next court date, a probable cause conference, was scheduled for March 26,
