On Friday, Abbott Labs announced a recall for certain lots of its 2 fluid-ounce bottles of Ready-to-Feed liquid formula for infants and children due to a manufacturing error that could cause kids to get sick.

Abbott has recalled the products due to a problem with the caps on some bottles resulting in them not being sealed completely and spoiling. If a child were to consume the formula after it had spoiled, it could result in them vomiting or having diarrhea.

"We take our responsibility to deliver high-quality products very seriously," Joe Manning, Abbott's executive vice president of nutritional products, said in a news release. "We internally identified the issue, are addressing it, and will work with our customers to minimize inconvenience and get them the products they need."

The recall is nowhere near the one the company had earlier this year, as a company spokesperson shared with CNN that it involves "less than a day's worth" of the total infant formula consumed in the U.S.

They added it is not expected to affect the overall supply like the shutdown of the Sturgis, Michigan, Abbott factory did in February.

The recalled brands include Similac, Similac 360 Total Care, Similac 360 Total Care Sensitive, Similac Special Care 24, Similac Stage 1, Similac NeoSure, Similac Water, Pro-Total Comfort, and Pedialyte Electrolyte Solution.

According to the company's recall, most of the products affected have been distributed to hospitals and doctors' offices.

The products recalled were manufactured at the Abbott plant in Columbus, Ohio. No other liquid or powder formula brands or other nutrition products are affected.

The lot numbers of the affected products are listed on the company's website. Consumers with a recalled product should not feed it to their children, according to the company.
