A Florida infant is dead after being left for hours in a hot car.

The 10-month-old girl was in the care of a babysitter, who picked the girl up from her mother Wednesday and transported her to another home where she was also babysitting other children.

The sitter, Rhonda Jewell, told authorities that she left the girl in the car with the intention of retrieving her but “completely forgot” about her.

The girl remained in the car until her mother arrived to pick her up hours later.

Authorities say temperatures in the car climbed above 133 degrees.

Jewell, 46, was arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child. She was released on bond.
