We all know that former President Donald Trump loves a snarky nickname. This week, it looks like President Joe Biden’s campaign has their own jabs for the presumptive GOP candidate.
“Donald Trump is weak and desperate – both as a man and as a candidate for President,” said Biden-Harris campaign spokesperson James Singer in a Monday statement following Trump’s press conference. Trump made remarks after New York Judge Juan Merchan set an April 15 start date for his criminal trial related to payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
During the press conference, the former president blamed Biden for his legal troubles, calling them “election interference,” of his unfounded claims of election fraud related to the 2020 presidential election. Some of Trump’s legal issues are related to the 2020 election.
Despite these issues, Singer said Trump “spent this weekend golfing, the morning comparing himself to Jesus, and the afternoon lying about having money he definitely doesn’t have.”
Earlier this week, Biden’s campaign also tried out a new nickname for Trump: “Broke Don.”
Indeed, it seems that Trump has been looking for ways to promote his connection to Christianity. Audacy reported this week that he is selling $59.99 “God Bless the U.S.A” bibles. He’s also reportedly in need of money due to his mounting legal fees and recently put his media company, Trump Media & Technology Group, public.
“His campaign can’t raise money, he is uninterested in campaigning outside his country club, and every time he opens his mouth, he pushes moderate and suburban voters away with his dangerous agenda,” said Singer’s statement. “America deserves better than a feeble, confused, and tired Donald Trump.”
Trump, 77, has often criticized Biden, 81, for his age – even though they are both senior citizens – and called him “weak” on the topic of immigration after Biden’s recent State of the Union address. He got his own jabs in at the president again Tuesday, calling him “Crooked Joe Biden” in a Truth Social post.
While Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll results released this week showed that the current president “overcame his gap with Trump in six of seven key swing states, and significantly so in at least two of them,” Trump has still trended better than Biden in many recent polls cited by FiveThirtyEight.
