New Orleans Police are asking for help finding two thieves who stole a three-wheeled bicycle, and along with it, a package containing a dead person's remains.

The theft happened late last month in the Bywater. Police say the two thieves broke into a secured apartment complex in the 3700 block of Dauphine St. around 5 p.m. on July 18 and stole the bicycle (pictured).

The thieves then fled the scene. The stolen vehicle's owner, Katrina Brees, said the cremated remains were those of her neighbor's 23-year-old niece.

The neighbor left a note in the building entrance explaining what had been in the FedEx package and asking for it to be returned. When she watched the security footage to find the bike thieves, Brees reportedly realized thieves had taken the package, too.

One can only assume they thought there was something in the box other than remains.

The missing tricycle is distinctive as it's adorned with a papier-maché grasshopper head because it was part of a fleet of miniature floats for a Mardi Gras parade.
