A county parks director in the Detroit area is facing serious criminal charges following a violent confrontation at a gas station on New Year's Day.

Wayne County Parks Director Alicia Bradford, 55, and her husband, Larry Bradford, 72, have each been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and felony firearm after a dispute over a 10-cent bottle deposit escalated into a physical altercation.

The incident unfolded just before 1 a.m. at a BP gas station in Farmington Hills, where Larry Bradford first got into an argument with the clerk while trying to purchase a Mountain Dew for $1.99. Surveillance video obtained by WXYZ shows him protesting the price, telling the clerk there is no sales tax on groceries, while the clerk tries to explain the extra charge was for Michigan's deposit law.
